Educational Objectives
The era marked by new economy and new industries has been a driving force for the rapid shift of construction engineering technology to BIM, prefabricated construction, and intelligent technology. The Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Plan and the Belt and Road Initiative environment have brought new opportunities to the construction industry. By incorporating the BIM, prefabricated construction and green building concepts into teaching, this major aims to foster students' ability to apply modern technology to complete various professional tasks in the life cycle of engineering projects, and enable students to master the basic skills of qualified engineers and have certain teamwork competency, a spirit of innovation and the basic qualities of entrepreneurship, and become an excellent "new engineering" applied professionals. It ends up training versatile engineering and technical talents who meet the needs of socialist economic and social development, are firm in ideal and politic integrity, pay attention to the development of both morality and skills, and develop in an all-round way.
Fundamental Courses
The fundamental courses include Engineering Surveying, Architectural Mechanics, Civil Engineering Materials, Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Drawing, CAD, Soil Mechanics and Basic Engineering, Architectural Design & Construction, Building Structure, Construction Engineering Budget, Civil Engineering Construction, Introduction to Prefabricated Building, Green Building, BIM Standards and Classic Cases, Cognitive Practice, Production Practice, and Post Practice, etc. Curriculum of this major not only emphasizes fundamentals learning, but also pays more attention to the cultivation of students’ practical ability. Curriculum design and practice and experimental courses are offered throughout students’ three-year study, in a bid to help students directly connect to their career right after graduation.
Job Prospects
Graduates of this major are mainly delivered to serve design institutes, government agencies, and other enterprises and public institutions related to civil construction, engineering supervision and real estate development. After graduation, students may engage in engineering construction project construction management, engineering estimate and settlement, project cost analysis, engineering supervision and other work, enjoying a wide range of career opportunities. Outstanding graduates can continue their study through the associate-to-bachelor degree program, and also study for a master's degree after obtaining an undergraduate diploma and degree.
