Educational Objectives

This major is intended to train high-quality applied talents who adapt to the needs of socialist economic and social development, pursue an overall development in moral, intellectual and physical aspects, systematically master the knowledge of urban planning, urban design, landscape design and others, acquire a solid basic knowledge and multi-faceted knowledge accomplishment, expand urban planning and design and management skills, and are able to engage in urban planning, design and management in urban planning and design, urban planning management, government decision-making consulting, real estate development and other sectors, as well as in urban social and economic development planning, regional planning, urban development, real estate development planning and related legal study, among others.

Fundamental Courses

In addition to Principles of Urban Planning, Urban Planning and Design, Urban Design, Residential District Planning, Small Town Planning, Urban Green Space and Landscape Planning and Design, History of Chinese and Foreign Urban Construction, Regulatory Detailed Planning, Urban Road and Traffic Planning, Related Theoretical Research, Urban Planning Administration and Administrative Regulations and other theoretical courses, this major also includes practical activities such as art sketching practice, comprehensive social practice research on the city, computer-aided design, design institute internship and graduation practice, and graduation design. To provide students with better conditions for practice, we have signed with a number of corporate partners, recommend students to have their internships in design institutes, and set up corresponding corporate scholarships. The students’ internships outside Hubei province cover Liujiang, Sichuan, Huangyao, Guangxi, Pingyao, Shanxi and other multiple fixed internship locations, which are abundant in choice and safe.

Job Prospects

Graduates may take on urban planning design and management, architectural design, garden planning, landscape design and other jobs in urban planning and design, urban planning management, architectural design, gardening, decision-making consulting, real estate development and other sectors, and are well positioned to participate in urban social and economic development planning, regional planning, urban development, real estate planning, research on relevant policies and regulations and other work.
