Educational Objectives
The purpose of this major is to enable students to develop the professional qualities of architects, nurture a certain awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship, a good professional ethics and artistic accomplishments, and be able to independently carry out architectural design, express design intent, and apply a variety of expression methods to perform graphical representations. This major aims to cultivate high-quality senior applied technicians who have a mastery of the basic principles and methods of architectural design, economic knowledge as well as social cultural customs, laws and regulations and other basic theories related to architecture, and be capable of engaging in design, research, teaching, management and others in the field of architecture.
Fundamental Courses
In addition to Elementary Architecture, Architectural Design, Principles of Architectural Design, Architectural Structure Selection, Architectural Structure, History of Chinese and Foreign Architecture, Principles of Urban Planning, Urban Design, Residential District Planning and Design, Special Studies in Green Building and other courses, the major also features practical activities including professional research, art sketching, cognitive practice, computer-aided design, architect business practice, and graduation design. To provide students with better conditions for practice, we have signed with a number of corporate partners, recommend students to have their internships in design institutes, and set up corresponding corporate scholarships. The students’ internships outside Hubei province cover Liujiang, Sichuan, Huangyao, Guangxi, Pingyao, Shanxi and other multiple fixed internship locations, which are abundant in choice and safe.
Job Prospects
The majority of graduates work for architectural design institutes or architectural design firms and other design organizations on building design and related architectural research; or work in a real estate company; or are employed by architectural decoration companies to engage in interior design work. In addition, as a top architecture major, architecture involve all related expertise in the process of learning. After graduation, students can take various building-related jobs through self-study or training, depending on their own conditions. Some of them may pass the exams for admissions to the graduate degree program of top-tier key universities and to civil servants of national ministries and commissions to work for teaching, scientific research and management departments, while some students may choose to go abroad for further study. Generally speaking, graduates of this major boast a wide range of career opportunities.
