Educational Objectives


This major is a key major of the college, a provincial comprehensive reform pilot major, and a provincial first-class major, and ranked first in Cuaa.Net’s 2017 rankings of civil engineering major of independent colleges in China. The major aims at cultivating “new engineering” applied talents with teamwork, the spirit of innovation and a basic quality of entrepreneurship. In addition to focus on individualized education, it has also developed a talent training program with an A+B model, where the "A module" pays attention to the cultivation of students' design ability, while "B module" lays emphasis on on the training of students' abilities in construction management, budgeting and others, in a bid to realize the characteristics and innovation of talent diversion training. The innovation, reform and upgrade of its talent training program meet the requirements of "new engineering" talent training, and conform to the development in the new economic era.


Fundamental Courses


The curriculum system is based on the principle of "strong foundation, in-depth practice, emphasis on innovation, focus on entrepreneurship, new technology, and cross-disciplines". Basic courses include Engineering Measurement, Material Mechanics, Theoretical Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Building Architecture, Roadbed and Pavement, and Bridge Engineering; interdisciplinary and integrated courses cover Engineering Economics and Project Management, Construction Equipment, Green Building, and Introduction to Traffic Engineering; cutting-edge new technology courses consist of BIM-Based Revit Architectural Design, Prefabricated Construction, Road and Bridge Engineering Aesthetics, Road and Bridge Inspection Technology and others; practical courses involve Housing Architecture Course Design, Bridge Engineering Course Design, Cognitive Practice, Production Practice, Graduation Practice and others; courses of innovation and entrepreneurship contain Bizarre Bionics, Fundamentals of Undergraduate Entrepreneurship, Structural Engineering Innovation Design Training, and Entrepreneurship Training.


Job Prospects

The development of smart cities, sponge cities, high-speed railways, and inter-city infrastructure connectivity has enabled graduates majoring in civil engineering to enjoy an employment rate of over 95% and engage in the industry as well as civil, municipal, transportation and other industries or be employed by design, construction, supervision, inspection and construction organizations, as well as cost consulting and other enterprises and public institutions.
