Its program development is closely aligned with societal needs, integrating seamlessly with regional development. Seven majors, namely "Nursing," "Computer Science and Technology," "Civil Engineering," "Business Administration," "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation," "Visual Communication," and "E-commerce," have been approved as first-class undergraduate major construction sites. "Business Administration" stands as both a Provincial-Level Key Cultivating Major and a Provincial-Level Key Cultivating Discipline. Four majors, including "Computer Science and Technology," "Logistics Management," "Civil Engineering," and "Nursing," have been selected for the provincial-level "Comprehensive Reform of Majors" pilot program in ordinary colleges and universities of Hubei Province. Additionally, three majors - "Computer Science and Technology," "E-commerce," and "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and its Automation" - have been approved for the Provincial-Level Strategic Emerging (Pillar) Industries Talent Cultivation Projects for Undergraduates. The College encourages and supports students to participate in off-campus science and technology competitions, leading to a total of 550 individuals (times) winning major awards in prestigious contests like the "University Students' Challenge Cup" and the "Internet Plus" competition over the past three years. By encouraging students to develop multiple goals and achieve success through multiple channels, the College extensively collaborates with employers to establish employment bases, ensuring a stable initial employment rate of over 90% for graduates. At the same time, it also facilitates conditions for students aspiring to further their studies, helping them prepare for postgraduate entrance examinations, as a result of which the postgraduate admission rate has maintained over 11% in the past three years.

WHCC has strategically positioned its talent cultivation objective as "anchoring in the Wuhan urban circle, serving the Hubei industry clusters, and radiating throughout the Central China economic belt, with a focus on both professional and moral excellence, highlighting individuality, and instilling a strong sense of social responsibility."
