This major aims to cultivate applied English talents, who cater to the needs of social and economic development, pursue an all-round development in moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic aspects, acquire a solid English language foundation and extensive scientific and cultural knowledge, and are able to engage in translation, teaching, business, management and other work in foreign affairs, economy and trade, culture, education, tourism and other sectors.

Fundamental Courses

Comprehensive English, Spoken English, English Reading, English Writing, English Linguistics, British and American Literature, English Interpretation, Anglo-American Society and Culture and other basic core courses, as well as Translation Theory and Practice, English Teaching Methods, Business English and other professional courses.

Job Prospects

For this major, we have carried out in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with many Chinese translation companies, cross-border e-commerce companies and English training institutions, and recommend internships and jobs for students who may be 100% employed in coastal cities. In addition, the graduate school acceptance rate for this major was about 20% over the years. Some students have been admitted to the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, the Wuhan University of Science and Technology, the Hubei University of Technology, the South-Central University for Nationalities and other universities to study for a master's degree, and some students have chosen to go abroad for further study.
