Photoelectric Information Science and Engineering (5G Communication Intelligent Optical Network Technology)


Undergraduate Duration: 4 years

Objective: The program aims to train application-oriented senior talents that master technologies of designing and manufacturing 5G communication intelligent optical network devices and modules, have the capabilities of optical network design, planning and implementation, can build LED "Li-Fi' smart lighting information network, design photoelectric intelligent instruments and research on photoelectric information engineering and relevant fields.


Advantages and features: The program is a provincial first-class undergraduate program point, a provincial key program and a program included in the "Chutian Scholar Program". We offer two features: "5G communication intelligent optical network technology" and "LED smart lighting technology" based on the industry hotspots of 5G communication and photoelectric information, and our graduates have good development prospect and high salaries. We have leveraged our superior location at the "Optics Valley of China" (known as the core area of China's photoelectric industry), to establish R&D centers and practice bases in collaboration with renowned enterprises like YOFC, FiberHome and Huawei. With a strong faculty and a favorable academic atmosphere, we have won a number of national awards in discipline competitions. Over 25% of our graduates have succeeded in Postgraduate Admission Test annually on average, and many have been enrolled by "Project 985" and "Project 211" universities, as well as renowned foreign universities. Over 98% of our graduates have been employed and many have started their own business.


Main courses: Principles of Modern Communication, Engineering Optics, Photoelectric Detection and Signal Processing, Optical Fiber Communication Technology, Fundamentals of 5G Communication Technology, Optical Network Technology, LED Lighting Technology, etc.

Job orientation: Our graduates can work on the design, R&D and management of 5G communication optical network, smart lighting systems and intelligent photoelectric instruments, as well as intelligent information system design and development in fields such as Internet and IoT.
